Understanding net worth

Illustration of a landmark building, representing net worth

Net worth is simply everything you own minus everything you owe: total assets minus total liabilities.

Assets include cash and bank balances, real estate, stocks, mutual funds, gold and jewelry, and other tangible assets. Liabilities include credit card balances and any other debts you add as a generic liability.

Your net worth updates automatically on the dashboard and Assets & Liabilities page as you add or remove entries.

Frequently asked questions

Does net worth include my income?

Not directly. Income affects net worth only once it's actually deposited into a tracked bank account or otherwise turned into an asset.

Why did my net worth jump suddenly?

Most often a large asset or investment was just added, or a bank account balance was edited. Check Assets & Liabilities and Settings for anything recently changed.
